           The "Jewish Camp"

Buchenwald Concentration Camp was liberated by American armed forces under General George S. Patton in April 1945.  The Little Camp, or "Jewish Camp", was a camp within the camp. It was one of the major Jewish killing sites in Buchenwald - mainly by starvation, disease and severe maltreatment.  The Little Camp was forgotten.

JASHP,  in conjuction with the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad,  dedicated a permanent memorial for the "Jewish Camp" in Buchenwald, April 14, 2002.  The program was attended by over 1,000 survivors, U.S. veterans, diplomats and citizens from many countries.
